Norwich Retro Gamers are back for another year with their amazing collection of rare retro consoles and games. Each day has a different theme!
Monday 27th May – Classic day
This is our collection of the best classic gaming systems from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Experience console gaming from the early Atari VCS, Japanese Famicom, the classic N64, and rare NEC Turbografx-16. We will also have a great collection of 80’s home computers such as the Sinclair Spectrum, Commodore 64, BBC Micro, Amstrad 6128, Atari 800XL, and the Amiga 1200. We should also have the Spectrum Next with a collection of playable games and demos.
Tuesday 28th May – Homebrew day and Colin Porch
We are excited to bring back our popular day which will be dedicated to modern homebrew titles on a collection of classic machines including the Sinclair Spectrum, Commodore 64, BBC Micro, Amstrad 6128, Atari 800XL, Amiga 1200, MSX 2, Sega Dreamcast, NES, and the Spectrum Next. We are also proud to annouce that Colin Porch will be joining us to show his latest game for the Atari ST, Head Over Heels 2. Colin has worked for both Software Projects and Ocean Software in the 80s and should have some great stories as his time as a coder on the Commodore 64.
Wednesday 29th May – Alternative day and Colin Porch
This is the day that we bring out the less popular (but still classic) machines. This year we will be featuring the Dragon 32, Commodore CD32, MSX 2, Neo Geo CD, and Panasonic 3DO. We will also have a selection of old favourites available, such as the Sinclair Spectrum, Commodore 64, Amstrad 6128, and the BBC Micro. The Spectrum Next will also be here and Colin Porch is returning for a 2nd day with his Atari ST (we will also be featuring his titles on the Commodore 64).
Thursday 30th May – 8-Bit Norwich
Something new for 2019 will be our celebration of the power of the 8-bit machines from the 80s. These humble machines will have a great collection of games to play and we will have the following machines available to play. Sinclair Spectrum, Commodore 64, BBC Micro, Amstrad 6128, Atari 800XL, MSX 2, Dragon 32, Oric 1, and Atari VCS. The Spectrum Next will also feature as a great link between old and new.
Friday 31st May – Atari Day
A special day dedicated to the once powerful gaming giant, Atari. Our machines will cover the full timeline of gaming machines, starting with the Atari VCS and Atari 7800, moving onto the 8-bit home computers, the Atari 800XL and Atari 65XE, the rare Atari XEGS console, the onto the Atari ST, and finally the ill-fated Jaguar. We will also have the Sinclair Spectrum, Commodore 64, and BBC Micro, all running games by Atari.
Saturday 1st June – Gaming greats and David Pleasance
Our final day will have a Commodore flavour with the Commodore 64, Amiga 1200, and CD32. Our classics will return with the Sinclair Spectrum, BBC Micro, and Atari VCS. And the Spectrum Next will have one more outing before it returns to Flashbang Studios. We are very excited to annouce that we will be joined by David Pleasance, previously from Commodore UK and he will be bringing along copies of his book, Commodore, The Inside Story. He will available to chat about his time at Commodore, his book will be available to buy, and he will sign any Commodore related items that visitors bring along.
